We are now on verse 29 out of 31! This verse is a continuation of the last post. It talks about what the Proverbs 31 woman’s husband says about her. Let’s get to it!
“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
As women, the comparison game is all too familiar. We analyze the smallest detail, trying to figure out how we measure up. We want to know whether we are better and should feel superior and prideful or they are better and we should feel devalued and insignificant. We compare hair, hobbies, and homes. We compare our child’s behavior, our husband’s jobs, and even our personalities. WRONG.
This is a vicious trap. Everyone loses. Social media is such an easy way to feed this ravenous monster. DON’T!
What if we changed the game. What if instead of comparing shallow things, be compared nobility? And what if the point wasn’t to come out on top, but to encourage and build each other up? What if we called out the good and God working that we see in one another? That sounds like a good game to me. That sounds like a life giving joy.
This is what the Proverbs 31 woman’s husband did. He called out the good that God’s grace had done in his wife. He wasn’t putting down other women, but building up his woman. He was speaking life, honoring his wife, and praising God all in one breath. This is the result of God working in a woman’s life and in a marriage. This is what God has called us to!
Here’s to playing the right game, the right way. Here’s to letting God do His perfect work in my life and calling out the work I see Him do in others. Here’s to building up and bringing joy.
