Clothed in Scarlet

Hello lovelies!

Some people are warm blooded. Some people can wear sandals and short sleeves in the middle of winter. Some people can drink iced beverages when it is below 60 degrees outside. I am not one of those people. Nope.

Maybe this will help you understand what kind of a person I am:
During the summer time, my parents kept their house around 74 degrees. At this temperature, I would spend the morning wrapped up in a blanket. I don’t like to be cold and I get cold very easily. I understand the concern in Proverbs 31:21

When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
    for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

Being cold is a legitimate concern. All kidding aside, it can be a serious issue, if one doesn’t have the necessary resources to stay warm. According to this verse, the woman after God’s heart is not fearful of cold weather, because she knows that they have warm clothes.

The “scarlet clothes” are also referred to as “doubly clothed”. The idea here is that they had warm clothing. I think that this can be explained in two ways.

  1. Hard Work
    Remember all the times we’ve heard about how hard working this woman is? Well, hard work often pays off. She has provided what her family needed.
  2. God is faithful
    Check out Matthew 6:31-33

     So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

    When you see Him first, He will take care of you. This isn’t a “when you follow God everything is perfect” kind of thing. Life is hard. Sin has hard consequences. God allows hard things. But still, God is faithful.

Seeking God is an incredible blessing. We can have a relationship with the Creator of the universe. Whoa. Seeking God reaps wonderful blessings, because He wants to bless us. It doesn’t stop with us, but it blesses those around us, as well. Until next time.
